Welcome to Lessenger Elementary

Message from Principal Sosin

November 14, 2017

Dear Lessenger Families,

It’s hard to believe that we have entered our second card marking!  We had an incredible start to the school year.  Our students have participated in a variety of learning experiences that have enriched their education here at Lessenger!  Most recently, our students participated in the “How Hot Air Rises” program provided by local Remax Agent and Lamphere alumni, Rickey Busler.  This program used a hot air balloon as a tool to teach the physics of why hot air rises while introducing them to man’s first form of flight.  It was an incredible experience that Lessenger students will not forget!  In addition, Lessenger had a visit from an Eastern Michigan University theatre troupe to perform a play called The Tomato Plant Girl.  This play explored the ideas of friendship, being inclusive to all and being true to yourself. Thanks to former music teacher, Judy Lewis, and our Superintendent, Dale Steen, our students learned a powerful lesson through the silly, yet important, story.  We are grateful for the opportunities to learn through these enriching activities!

We are excited to begin meeting with our Road Runner Roundup groups this month! Our meetings will focus on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids as we build relationships with each other.  As we spend our time learning how to be leaders, we encourage you to have conversations with your children at home about how we might use the habits to uphold the following school standards:

Take care of yourself.

Take care of others.

Take care of this place.

Treat people the way you want to be treated.

Thank you for your support in helping your child to make responsible choices each day!

As we approach the holidays, we have the opportunity to reflect on our lives and be grateful for the things that bring us happiness.  I am grateful for my role as principal because of your commitment to your children and to our school community. I wish you a joyful holiday season, gathered with those who mean the most to you.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the school year.  You will find that my door is always open and supporting the students of Lessenger is my first priority!

Warmly,

Jackie Sosin
